Viable Bioaerosols: Microbiological Focus

  Section Contents

Since all viable bioaerosols are microorganisms, here is a quick review of some microbiology basics just in case you have not taken biology recently.

There are three branches of life forms: prokaryotes, eukaryotes, and archaea. This unit will not focus on archaea, as they do not play as large of a role in bioaerosols as the other two branches. Viruses play a very critical role in the bioaerosol field but do not fall into any of these classifications of life forms, and thus will be discussed separately.
